ScanEagle: Unmanned Autonomous Vehicle

ScanEagle is based on the Seascan aircraft and uses the integrated systems in Boeing’s communications and payload technologies. It provides images in real time to enable tactical commanders to develop a clearer picture of the battlefield.

The ScanEagle is launched autonomously via a launcher wedge pneumatic catapult and flies pre-programmed missions initiated by operator or directed by GPS and its onboard flight control system.

The ScanEagle has four feet in length and a wingspan of 10 feet, can stay in flight for more than 15 hours.

ScanEagle Release On board the USS Cleveland - In April 2005, Boeing received a contract from the U.S. Navy for unmanned aerial vehicles to support the Iraqi operation.
