Stephen Alvarez grew up in a secluded college town on the Cumberland Plateau. His father, a
mathematics professor. His mother, an artist. So Stephen’s career choice as an exacting
adventure photographer is one that should really come as no surprise.
Since 1991, Stephen’s assignment work has taken him quite a long way from home. From the
caves of Oman to the Peruvian Andes to deepest darkest Borneo, Stephen enjoys nothing more
than planning and executing a challenging shoot.
